WE HAD OUR FIRST PRACTICE last Wednesday (May 8) and had a good turnout. The LOWER teams are full, some are over the limit. A waiting list has been set up. Games start (LOWER Division) on Tuesday, May 14, at 6:30 pm, (UPPER Division) on Thursday, May 16, at 6:30 pm.
BEST TEAM PLAYER TROPHY. Anyone interested in a tournament for ‘BEST TEAM PLAYER AWARD’? Separate award for LOWER and UPPER players. It would be based on the first 8 players that sign up, for each LOWER and UPPER divisions. The 8 players would be split into two groups of 4 players per team. The two teams would play a 10 minute round of soccer. If a team wins, then all 4 players would receive 2 points. If the two teams tie, then all 8 players would receive 1 point. No points are awarded for a loss. Take a break and the teams are now changed. The two new teams play against one another. Again, points are awarded for a win or draw. After four games (team members are changed each time), we should have a winner (maybe two). The idea behind this tournament, is that you must help your team score, defend and outplay the opposing team. You must help your team win to receive any points. Scheduled for the week of July 14, after the regular games. A trophy will be given to each winner.
Tournament results: Lower team players; Amelia Sercu, Eze Dyer, Clarence Blades, Ja’Yonna Willis, Jeremiah Rodriguez, Amira Stephens, Levious Santiago, Omar Hanic. Three way tie, with 6 points each; Jeremiah, Amira, and Levious.
END OF SEASON PICNIC. The picnic is planned by volunteers and will be held on Friday, July 26, at the Tay House Lodge, behind school #15 (former #1) on Hillside Drive by Cobbs Hill Park and the Monroe County Water Authority. This is a newly renovated enclosed building, but we are not allowed to cook inside, but we can keep foods warm or use the refrigerator. There is an outdoor grill outside (not very big). The lodge has tables and chairs for us to use, and of course, bathrooms. This club is non-profit, so the picnic should not be used as a fund raiser. To help offset the cost, I would suggest a limit of $3 per person and $7 per family (players and coaches are free). Friends and relatives (aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas) are welcome to join us. This event is ‘Rain or Shine’, but hopefully, we will have great weather. There is a large school field, so soccer balls and nets can be set up.
OUR ‘PARTICIPATION’ TROPHIES. Here are pictures of the trophies that will be given to this years soccer participants. Trophy_LowerTeams-e1563806191469.jpg
